Hello everyone. I know, I'm very late to give reviews on this series since the last book of the trilogy came out, like, two months ago. I know and I'm sorry, okay? I don't live near a book store. The town I live in only have about seven thousand people on it, we are lucky enough to have one book store even if not updated. At all.
So yeah... Shatter Me Trilogy... You know I was very skeptical about reading this and I have to admit I was prepared to hate it. Well, you see, I thought it would just be another post apocalyptic shit with a lot of teenage angst. But since I bought my eReader, I thought "what the hell, I might as well read it". So I did and I was right. It is post apocalyptic with a lot of teenage angst but with out the shit.
Sure, the first book was crazy and slow at first. We have a half crazy for a main character, Juliette, who hasn't spoken in more than two hundred days because she was locked in an asylum for killing a child with her bare hands. Not only is she socially handicap she also made the events to be so dragging. I don't blame her, I blame the author. Okay, I don't blame anyone. It's that it made it difficult for me to hang on to the book at the beginning.
Then our Adam came in to her prison cell who happened to be one of the two people who can touch her with out dying. That, for me, was the titanium steel that chained me to the book. I know Adam can be a bit gloomy but, Oh baby! he has charms. He is strong and, in my mind, hot and he just made me fall in love, but not for long. Then came the Commander General of Sector 45. Warner was an ass. A sweet piece of ass. I don't know if its just me or the book actually made me feel it but Adam looks like a candle compared to Warner's bonfire. Warner is hotness overload and I knew then that I want Juliette to end up with him. You have to idea how my chest feels like at this very moment.
I have read this trashy book a few months ago but in this book there is this line I want to share with you but, bloody hell, I can't remember how it was exactly said. It it goes something like this "Happiness have to sides; contempt and bliss. I hope you find your self in the middle, my goddess". At this moment, I am the exactly at the middle; contempt and bliss. And man, I just want to explode right now.
The second book wasn't exactly what I hope would it be. I thought she would finally open her eyes and realize that the world does not revolve around her and her super powers. I mean, there is war going out there. You cannot break down and cry on just about everything. When they arrived at the Omega Point I really thought that is where she's going to turn brilliant but hell no! it feels like her baggage just doubled. Okay, I should cut her some slack since she does not have any social skills. She ignored everybody and looked at no one. Its as if she is guilty of just about everything she does and is. Its fucking frustrating!!! But my love Warner came into the scene and I was saved and I kind of wished I was her instead.
The second book, Unravel Me, is like the book of revelation. She found out what she can do (Although there was never a name for it) and what exactly The Reestablishment is. I know that The Reestablishment is not very good at reestablishing anything and also very corrupt but, Holy Shit! There are others with super powers. I should have known that if there is one power, there should be more but I guess I never thought about it that way. I feel so dumb right now.
Anyway, just like the tittle says. Its the unraveling of what is actually going on since Juliette was in isolation for years. I'm gonna say this again, she is so lame in this book. Then the pre-war happened. She shot the Supreme Commander in both legs (the only cool thing she ever did in this book) and got Warner as a hostage. I'm gonna skip to the part that really mattered, to me. They got hot and heavy. I envy Juliette so fucking much then she fucking ruined it because there was Adam (who wasn't an exception to her touch anymore since he can still get hurt if he is not using his abilities (yes, have powers too)) who she cant touch, anymore because she is too afraid.
So long story short, they went to war, they lost, Omega Point was bombed to the ground. Juliette was taken back to the Supreme Commander (the same one she shot in both legs) and was shot to the chest in front of Warner. Holy Shit right?
Book three was my favorite. You have to read it your self because I don't want to spoil you so much. All I am gonna say is that I was thoroughly happy of how it ended. When the Omega Point was bombed I thought "holy shit, she would realize her feelings for Warner but by that time it would all be too late because Warner will die and she would go bat shit crazy and demolish The Reestablishment and at the end of the book she would be so emotionally damaged that the other survivors of the Omega Point will have to put her down and she would be totally happy about it since can finally be with Warner". Well, my ending would have been so much more dramatic but Ms. Mafi's ending is cool too. I'm actually quite glad it didn't end like I thought it would end.
Anyway, I am gonna be rereading the series since I cram read it but this time I'm gonna be taking my sweet time. I'm gonna savor the moments, specially the last book and I would swear on the name of my first born child (I don't and I wont have one) that I would get hard copies of the book because it was just so damn good! It deserve to be bought.
p.s.
I'm not gonna proof read this post because I'm so sleepy already. Ask if you have any questions and if you are confuse, don't worry I am too. I mean confuse about the post not the sexuality because I am dead straight. I am an ever loving fun of fictional man. Lol. I will copy right that!!!
